Model numbers: RAID 5, RAID 6
RAID 5 survives one drive failure and RAID 6 survives two. Data is lost when more drives fail than that, very often during the rebuild after the first failure, when the remaining ageing drives are worked hardest.
Which model do you have?
You'll usually see the RAID level in the NAS or controller settings. If you are not sure, bring all the drives and we will work it out.

Before you bring it in
Don't rebuild, re-initialise or swap disks around. Label each drive with its bay number, power the unit down and bring all the drives in. A rebuild onto a failing disk is the most common way RAID data is lost for good.

If a member drive needs physical repair, a donor drive may also be needed: we send you a link to buy the exact match from donordrives.com. If you'd rather we buy it for you, we add 30% plus any import charges and VAT.
We can supply an external drive to return your recovered data on. The price depends on the market rate at the time.
