Samsung's T7, T7 Shield and T9 portable SSDs are popular for video and photo work. When they fail they usually just stop appearing on the computer, with no noise or warning.
Which model do you have?
The model number is on the back label. T7 drives start with MU-PC, T7 Shield with MU-PE, and T9 with MU-PG, followed by the capacity (for example MU-PC1T0T).
