Model numbers: DS415+, DS1515+, DS1815+, DS2415+
These Synology models use the Intel Atom C2000 processor, which is known to fail with age: the unit simply stops powering on. The drives and data inside are usually fine.

Which model do you have?
The model is on the label under or behind the unit.
Common faults we fix
- Unit won't power on or has a blinking blue light
- Unit dead after a power cut
- Drives failing in an old unit
What we recover
- Failed or degraded volumes, including after a failed rebuild
- Individual failed drives from the NAS
- Deleted shares and folders
- Units that no longer boot or appear on the network
Before you bring it in
If the unit is dead, don't put the drives into a different model and let it "migrate". Bring the drives in, labelled by bay number.
NAS data recovery prices
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Free initial consultation | Free |
| 2-drive NAS (for example 1TB + 1TB) with one drive to repair | £450 + VAT (£540 inc. VAT) |
| QNAP or Synology RAID 5 NAS | £650 + VAT (£780 inc. VAT) |
The free consultation tells you whether the fault is physical or logical and the best way to recover your data. It doesn't include opening the drive in the cleanroom or any recovery attempt.
Larger NAS units and RAID 6 or RAID 10 volumes are priced like RAID recovery.
We can supply an external drive to return your recovered data on. The price depends on the market rate at the time.
See our full data recovery price list.
